How the death of young Hamnet Shakespeare had a profound effect on his celebrated playwright father William, and grief-stricken mother Agnes. Paul Mescal plays William, while Jessie Buckley won an Oscar for her portray of Agnes.

Eccentric London painter Julian Sklar (Ian McKellen) faces fading fame as his scheming son and daughter hire struggling artist Lori Butler (Michaela Coel) to secretly finish his long-abandoned “Christophers” series. But artist and forger develop an unlikely bond as they unravel the family’s plot.
